God Takes Notice of You
Because of my dad and his occupation as a pilot when I was growing up, I have a love for airports and flying and, oddly enough, even for the smell of jet fuel. My favorite thing about the whole flying scene, though, happens during take-off; it’s the rush you feel as the plane speeds down the runway and then that moment the plane lifts off of the ground and glides into the air…it’s such a rush—exhilarating! There is nothing like it…
And recently, although I was able to experience all of those things once again that I love and appreciate…it was something else that caught my attention this time. From my window seat, I noticed something that I have noticed many times before but this time saw in a new way. It was the vehicles down below…they were so, so tiny. They were specks.
And if the vehicles were so minute, what about the people in them? They were less than specks, not even pinpoints. Can you imagine what they look like from outer space? And yet…each of those people—less than a speck to the naked eye—were souls, eternal beings, with such incredible significance that a Savior came and gave His life for them. How does one even wrap their mind around that?
Psalm 8:4 says: “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” Job 7:17,18 says: “What is man, that You should exalt him, that You should set Your heart on him, that You should visit him every morning, and test him every moment?” How is it that a God so infinite and so enormous and all-powerful even notices humans—less than a dot in the span of time and eternity?
The answer is simple but is of such completely huge and profound importance: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 God is mindful of us because of His great LOVE for us…a magnificent and incomprehensible love for us, His creation.
Today, if you are doubting your value, take a step back. Although you may be feeling like an inconsequential speck on this Earth, you are so much more. Remember that a God larger than time and space takes notice of you and IS mindful of you today wherever you are, whatever you are doing, and wherever you go.
