He is Still on the Throne
This week my mom texted with a family member. My mom shared that in the conversation, the family member mentioned she had recently been reading about the Flood in Genesis 6 and the account of Noah’s ark. She reflected on how that was quite a quarantine and that she had resolved, in light of that, to not complain about the current situation. Something about that stuck with me. She was absolutely right. That WAS quite a quarantine! And this quarantine, just like that time of isolation experienced during the Flood, can be a time to gain perspective; not to complain, but to wait on the Lord, trust in Him, trust in His timing and let Him bring healing and focus while He unfolds His plan. It can be an opportunity to set our eyes on Him, the Giver and Sustainer of ALL life, and watch Him accomplish His Will in the middle of a seemingly uncertain circumstance.
Take a look here at Psalm 29: “Giveunto the Lord, O you mighty ones,Give unto the Lordglory and strength. Give unto the Lordthe glory due to His name;Worship the Lordin the beauty of holiness. The voice of the Lordisover the waters; The God of glory thunders; The Lordisover many waters. The voice of the Lordispowerful; The voice of the Lordisfull of majesty. The voice of theLordbreaks the cedars,Yes, the Lordsplinters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also skip like a calf,Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lorddivides the flames of fire. The voice of the Lordshakes the wilderness; The Lordshakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lordmakes the deer give birth,And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everyone says, ‘Glory!’”
Right now, not only should we give unto the Lord the glory that is due Him and worship Him, we should listen for His voice—a voice that thunders and can break trees, shake forests, and split fires…a voice that can in fact shake the whole of all creation. And catch these last two verses of the psalm: “The Lordsat enthronedat the Flood,And the Lordsits as King forever. The Lordwill give strength to His people; The Lordwill bless His people with peace.” Just as God was on the Throne during the Flood, He is still on the Throne during our time of quarantine. Isn’t that exciting?!
If you needed a word from the Lord today to help you through this unusual time, there it is! HE is still on the throne. He is still King and He WILL give you the strength and peace you need to make it through this time. Praise Him! Give Him glory! Worship Him! And Listen for His powerful voice as He unfolds His plan.
