It is God’s desire, His plan, for us to be in-step with Him (Galatians 5:25)—every day, every hour, every minute. Is it possible? Yes. Paul says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18 But, how is it possible to “always”, “continually” and “all”? How do we do that?
We must continuously seek God—passionately pursue Him—not just wonder about Him or be curious about Him but diligently search for Him as for hidden treasure. The Bible is full of this admonition time and time again. “My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Psalm 27:8 “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you…” Psalm 63:1a “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” I Chronicles 16:11
And there is a priceless reward attached to seeking God: “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29 The Word promises that when we seek Him with all that we have and all that we are, we will find Him. Again: “’You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord…” Jeremiah 29:13,14a
And, as if that were not enough of a reward, the Lord promises even more. He says that when we couple that fervent, passionate seeking with humility and repentance, great and mighty things will begin to happen: “’…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’” II Chronicles 7:14
Today, seek God. Passionately pursue Him, and let His love overwhelm you.
