You are Loved
Love is such a difficult thing to wrap our minds around. It is so big and sometimes feels so elusive. Often, we can imagine loving someone, but the idea that another person could truly and uninhibitedly love us back seems impossible. Perhaps this is because we perceive love to be conditional, something that is contingent upon a person’s perception of us—our successes, our failures, etc, and perhaps this may have actually been part of our experience. But this is not how God loves…
God’s love is unconditional and sacrificial: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 And again: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 Wow! God loved us before we were born and before we knew Him, and He even loved us while we were in the midst of our sin.
God’s love is a continuous, never-ending, and never-changing part of His character: “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you…But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Psalm 86:5,15 And here: “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:26 Also: “’Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10
God’s love is such that no one and nothing can part you from it: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38,39 Incomprehensible but breath-taking, deeply reassuring, and comforting!
The take-away?
You are loved. God loved you before you ever existed. He gave everything for you. His love for you will NEVER change. No one can ever take His love from you. His love for you is FOREVER!
Today, live in this, walk in this, BELIEVE this… And when the enemy comes in and tries to deceive you and tell you differently, declare these truths and scriptures with boldness, confidence and assurance. Rest in God’s unfailing love for you, and allow His love to sweep over you and create in you an unshakeable faith.
